Why do Jewish people say “G-d” instead of saying the actual word?

Ever since I started to study Judaism, I’ve always wondered why Jews type “G-d”

If you’re wondering why I am asking reddit instead of google, it’s because I feel that Judaism is so divierse and that a definite answer would be very blunt…Idk…I don’t mean any harm though!!!
