Does the concept of Galut refer to physically being outside of Eretz Israel and being in the diaspora? Or is it a concept referring to people who stray far from Jewish teachings? Is it both? I’m currently reading Arthur Hertzberg and that term is thrown around a lot in his works. Would appreciate some insight on the topic.
