One of the functions of religion is that it helps us deal with the pain of being alive. I am relatively new to Judaism, so I’m still learning as much as I can about it. I see a lot of posts about halakha and about the place of Jews in society – but what do you do when everything in your life seems meaningless? I know there is therapy and outside social supports, but I’d like my religion to be part of what helps me find comfort and keeps me going.
I know this is a personal question. I am just wondering how your faith helps you personally when faced with these difficult feelings. How is it a resource for you? Are there particular parts of the Torah that are helpful for you? Particular lessons or prayers?
