While I would prefer to participate in person in a Torah study group, I unfortunately don’t love the group at my synagogue and there aren’t a lot of other options near me. I haven’t had a good group since I left Philadelphia.
I’m wondering if anyone is aware of any virtual Torah study groups that meet regularly? I’m specifically looking for a group that is Reform, Conservative, or Pluralistic.
Issues I’ve had with other in-person groups that I’ve tried are:
- Interfaith participants constantly referencing this week’s Mass reading for comparison to the Torah.
- People only looking at the Torah historically and refusing to discuss the Torah’s application to our lives today.
I know that I can study on my own (and I do), but a group brings up topics and questions that I’m unlikely to come up with on my own. I listen to plenty of Torah study podcasts, which are great, but want something discussion-based. If it exists, I’m hoping the Reddit hive mind can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
