Very odd conversation about Jewish history

I just had a very odd text conversation with a friend (Turkish for reference).

So, basically what happened was I was texting with a Turkish friend of mine. Somehow the historic Ottoman/Turkish treatment of the Jews. It actually didn’t end up being much of a conversation, he wanted to talk about how much better the Ottoman Empire was than Europe in its treatment of Jews. I agreed with him, but also highlighted how Ottoman Jewish history wasn’t perfect, there was good, bad, and middling things (paraphrasing a little bit, but not much) and he just kinda lost it on me. Started going on about how I hate the Turks and the Ottomans and I think that they enslaved the Jews and that I think that they’re all Naz*s. He’s now stopped texting me back, despite that I tried to clear things up a little bit.

I don’t really need anything 😂 I’m just so taken aback by what happened, like 15 minutes ago now) I figured I’d share it in a digital safe space.
