I grew up in a conservative Ashkenazi family, went to Hebrew day school for many years, and am in the process of reconnecting with judaism. Part of this process has been reciting the morning and evening Shema. I generally will recite the Shema and V’Ahavta with trope, then will read the V’haya and Vayomer in Hebrew without trope (I will often then reread the entire Shema out loud in English to help reinforce its message).
My question is this: Do Ashkenazis generally read the entire Shema with trope? If so, is there a good resource I could use to help me practice? Thanks in advance.
