I just started university and I was introduced to Chabad and Hillel. From what I’ve heard, Hillel is more about cultural Judaism and Chabad is more religious Judaism. Chabad is also a branch of orthodox Judaism is my understanding?
I’ve always been part of reform congregations. I’m also visibly queer and rather… unique with the way I dress/present myself. I’m pretty worried about acceptance both for my religious background and for the way I look, but I would describe myself as very religious. I ran theology nights at my previous congregation and I’m really involved in community. I think I would find a lot of value in a religious organization on campus but I have no context for what that’s like nor do I know anyone who attended one.
I’m sure it’s different everywhere, but what’s it like generally? Thanks!
