This person will work out of our Midtown Manhattan office where on any given day there is babka, pickles or Israeli chocolate lying around the kitchen. 70 Faces Media (our parent company) is seeking an Editorial Fellow to work on our women’s lifestyle sites, Kveller and Alma and our food site, The Nosher. Kveller is a Jewish parenting website for smart, savvy moms, Alma is a site for Jewish millennial “ladies with chutzpah,” and The Nosher is a site dedicated to Jewish food. You don’t need to be Jewish to work here, though some familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions helps. What we’re really looking for in this six-month position is someone with excellent editing and writing skills, strong attention to detail, a keen visual eye, and the ability to stay on top of a variety of tasks. We are also looking for someone who is social media savvy and can keep a finger on the pulse of trends and Jewish news, with a sense of humor and love of all things internet-y (and who can come up with a better word than internet-y).
Job Responsibilities:
– Editing blog posts and loading them onto the site via WordPress
– Choosing art for each post
– Writing blog posts responding to relevant items in the news and pop culture
– Creating e-newsletters
– Promoting the brands on social media networks (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
– Providing assistance with daily operations
Desired skills:
– Strong time management and organizational skills
– Familiarity with social media a must
– Efficient and engaging writer, with the ability to match Kveller and Alma’s current tone
– Good visual eye for photos and artwork to accompany blog posts
– Some familiarity with Photoshop and WordPress helpful, but not required
– Plays well with others (i.e. team player, likes collaborating)
– Sharp editorial eye, proofreading skills, and ability to follow in-house style guide
– Strong attention to detail
