Seeking Guidance on How to Organize My Judaism Learning Journey

Hi, Reddit community!

I’m a Jew from a secular family with roots in the former USSR, where all Jewish traditions were lost. During the pandemic, I started my journey back to my roots and have been independently studying Yiddish, Hebrew, and Judaism. I’ve learned that my shtetl had followers of Chabad, and it seems that my grandfather was one as well.

I actively use resources like Chabad.org and Sefaria.com. I also find the interlinear translation on BibleHub.com helpful, even though it’s not a Jewish site. However, I’m feeling overwhelmed by all the information, books, and cycles out there. On one hand, there are a number of key texts and works: Tanakh, Midrash, Talmud, Halacha, Mussar, Kabbalah… On the other hand, there are various study cycles (annual, triennial, even seven-year cycles!) like the Parasha’s, 929, Rambam’s Mishneh Torah, Tanya, Daf Yomi…

Can anyone recommend or point me to a resource that organizes all of this? Where should I start, how should I continue, and are there different levels of immersion? I’ve completed a few annual Torah cycles with Rashi’s commentary and following Kehot Chumash. I’m trying to follow 929 to cover the entire Tanakh. I’ve attempted the Rambam and Tanya cycles but found them challenging and gave up.

I’d really appreciate any advice! 🙂
