I am looking for recommendations for synagogues in Seattle.
My partner (30M raised Jewish) and I (29F raised Agnostic) are interested in joining a Jewish community. We are hoping to start a family in a few years and we would like to raise our kids Jewish and we would like to make some friends with people near our age also starting families who share our values.
We are both scientists so, from the little I have researched, I think we could join somewhere Reform or Reconstructionist or Conservative, but not Orthodox. We want to attend shabbat (except during winter we would need a Friday evening service instead of Saturday) and holiday services, and it would be great if there were outdoors groups (especially skiing and hiking), mens and/or womens groups, and/or youth groups associated. Anywhere within walking distance of UW or the Burke Gillman walking trail would work well.
Perhaps this is an odd thing to add, but I really love gardening and if by chance there is a community that shares that interest or if the synagogue itself has a lovely garden, that would really influence my decision where to join.
