Schedule conflict on Yom Kippur

Shanah Tovah everyone <3

I didn’t know where else to turn about this question since my Rabbi is drowning in work right now and my community is so far away from me. My daughter and I live with my (not Jewish) dad and stepmom. We found out recently that my stepmom has cancer, and she just had her appointment on the 1st detailing how serious things are and what course of treatment they are recommending. I won’t go into all the details, but the main concern is that it’s serious enough that she needs to pretty immediately start chemotherapy. Since I’m a student and am raising my daughter at home while I do school online, I immediately offered to be her transportation to her appointments, which will either be about 30 minutes or an hour away from where we live. Her first appointment is in the morning on the 11th, which is Yom Kippur.

I was already concerned I wouldn’t be able to attend services due to distance away from my shul since I moved, now it’s guaranteed that I won’t be able to make it. My stepmom needs me, so I’m at peace with that decision, but I still want to participate somehow. What can I do while I’m waiting with my toddler during my stepmom’s appointment? Any suggestions?

Also, I’m still learning (aren’t we all?), but this has been an intensely difficult circumstance to cope with and I just need comfort and/or escape sometimes. Anyone have any reading suggestions? Biblical or in general is fine, but either distinctly Jewish in content or from Jewish authors is preferred.
