R.E. Iceland’s circumcision ban, do you think a world where circumcision is illegal that you’d follow the law of the land, or try to continue the practice?

Exactly as the title asks. I’m an Aussie Gentile but the Icelandic ban sounds pretty bad to me. I’m not sure what countries there’d be that support religious freedom enough to prevent this from ever happening, aside from Israel and maybe countries with enshrined theocracy-like elements (Lebanon?). AFAIK the US religious freedom is better described as “freedom from religion”, which doesn’t protect religious practices but instead guards against state interference in religious organisations.

Do you think that circumcision is permanently essential, or that it may some day be viewed as a non-essential, quaint tradition?
