So on Tumblr right now there’s a big discourse happening in which one side believes converts are ethnically Jewish and the other saying they do not. The first argue on the basis that conversion includes joining the culture/people and the history that goes with belonging to the Jewish people as well as the fact that ethnicity =/= race. The second arguing that converts are only practicing the religion and not part of culture. (they also have some extremely anti-convert sentiments in general).
One person brought this discourse up in their Facebook group and everyone there agreed that when a person is formally converted they become Jewish in every sense including ethnicity. In light of that I’m curious what the reddit community has to say.
