I recently made a post asking about the differences between litvish and chassidish tallitot, due to the oldest tallit in my family coming from the Lithuanian side, and wanting to know more about my heritage in preparation for my own tallit, as much of the knowledge of the old country has been lost in my family. I had misremembered much about it, so this was a good excuse to throw together an album and and remember it again.
I’ve hosted an album on my own website, since I don’t really trust the internet with judaism, and would like to retain control of the photos. This gallery also contains a few pictures of his tefillin, and his lovely monogrammed tefillin bag.

Some updates:
- I had misremembered it as all white, but it does in fact have black stripes
- It’s splitting, unfortunately, from being so old and, again, unfortunately, from going unworn.
- It’s made of silk
- The tzitzit are tied in the standard 7-8-11-13 pattern, not G”RA, as some people pointed out in the previous thread.
“Why is it on the ground?”: It’s so old and fragile, and the carpet was freshly cleaned. This was the only place we had to open it without undue damage. I know, and yet this was the most respectful place we could put it at the time. It was carefully put back after photographing. When re-opening it later, it was set on a cushion on a table.
