Hi all! I wanted to share this because I figured many were unfamiliar, but if you ever have the opportunity, you should find a way to see Ben Caplan, Christian Barry, and Hannah Moscovitch’s Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story. Set at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1908, the story is about two Jewish refugees fleeing Romanian pogroms. It’s full of Klezmer and is both tremendously funny and poignantly sad and honest about anti-Semitism and the plight of Jews fleeing Europe. It might as well be the story of my own great-grandparents, who fled the Romanian pogroms in the 1920s and met in New York. Ben Caplan is a phenomenal songwriter and performer, and I cannot recommend enough.

Hope you guys enjoy, and these amazing Jewish, Halifax-based artists get some more exposure because of this.
