*Specifically, more friends that are Jewish creatives. For years now I have had a dream of starting a youtube channel, and I even posted a few videos. But since Oct. 7th I have been absolutely terrified to keep posting. I can’t stop imagining some terminally online psycho finding my socials, realizing that I have fam in Israel / studied abroad there etc. and harassing me or worse. So now I am depressed about giving up on my dream but too frozen with fear to move forward.
My therapist says that maybe I will feel better if I am not going at it totally alone. I used to be a part of this writer’s group that met in a cafe once a week and found it very energizing to have a creative space to share my ideas. But then after 10/7 someone in the group started showing up with a “by any means necessary” bumper sticker on their car and I stopped going.
My therapist thinks it might help to have the support of a Jewish community, specifically creatives who have experience publicly putting themselves out there as Jews. So I figured it can’t hurt…anyone on here a Jewish creative who would be willing to talk? Or better yet is anyone a Jewish creative in the NYC area, or does anyone know of groups of likeminded people I could join?
