My coworker and I are looking for a book that we can assign for rising seniors’ summer reading that fits both our classes. Mine is called Jewish American Literature and Culture, and hers is The Humanity of Heroes. The latter focuses on different types of heroes journeys, tragic heroes, antiheroes. The former is self-explanatory – it can be anything Jewish American. It has to be all-girls Modern Orthodox high school appropriate.
I would love to avoid Holocaust books if possible. Both for content of summer reading and because those are usually not focused on Jewish American specifically, they’re more Jewish European. Also, to be clear, we’re looking for something fiction.
If you could let me know maybe what they book you’re suggesting is about and/or why you think it fits, that would be SUPER helpful. Thank you!!!
