Let’s talk about “the lost tribe of Israel/Israelites”

Hello,

I’m not sure where else I feel comfortable posting about this to have a conversation about people who claim they are “the lost tribe of Israel”.

I’ve seen a lot of groups, predominantly black, claim that they are “Israelites” and I have questions because they are also citing religious texts that are not the Torah. Also, I’m just confused on what they believe. Besides always being confused by these groups, I feel like it is a bit disrespectful to Judaism.

I would like to hear your Jewish thoughts on this if you have anything to share or teach me.
