Hey, I’m Claudia and I’m part of a small group of german students. A jewish family, The “Jesurans”, used to live in Nuremberg, but had to flee from home in the early 1930s in order to survive. Pressured by one nazi, the Jesurans were forced to sell their house for a low price and leave. The money, the nazi promised them, never arrived. Shortly, one of the three sons, in fact the oldest, died in a concentration camp in Poland. The other two Jesuran children survived and started a new life in France and Belgium. 70 years later, the descendants of this jewish family showed up at the house, in which their ancestors used to live in. And this is how our project started. We are currently working with the current owners of that house, the descendants of this jewish family and members of the city council of Nuremberg. Part of this project is to help them find out more about their family history, because due to the inhumane crimes, alot of their family history is unknown and lost. Who were their grandparents? Who were their great grandparents? How was life after the war? These and other questions that have to be answered are on the minds of this generation’s Jesurans. The other part of this project is to help the family reach some sort of inner peace, once we’ve gathered all the documents and all the pieces of history. While facts are important, so are feelings and emotions towards this subject. And the third part is: we are currently working on a way of documenting and telling the story of this particular family. Our goal is to never let history repeat itself; never forget and never again. We’ve already gathered a ton of information, but we had to start from scratch and have no money at all. That’s why we participated in a CONTEST, that will finance our school project, IF we win. But to do so, WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP and it would mean the world to us, if you could maybe spare only 1 minute of your time and vote here: https://opencall.n2025.de/items/34390?appId=22850We need 400 votes til midnight!!
All you’d have to do, is type in your E-Mail, your name (you can use a fake name too, I checked the rules) and confirm your e-mail address by clicking on the link in the email they will send you. Otherwise the vote won’t count! I’d really appreciate it, if you could help us out! You can change the language in the top right corner from “Deutsch” (german) to english or just click on “Abstimmen” (german for “vote”)! I know, it’s kind of a curveball, I’m throwing here. But I really don’t know what else to do, but to rely on the kindness of strangers. But what I do know is, I am part of the 4th generation after the war. Actually, I am a 17 year old girl from Nuremberg and so are the other students that are working on this project. It is our responsibility to prevent something like this from ever happening again, because we ARE the future. We want to do it right, but we cannot do it on our own. We need your help and I know it’s a close call til midnight, but can we make this miracle happen? Internet do ya thing! 🙏🏼
