Is my last name Of Jewish origin?

Last name is Machado, I have heard from multiple different sources that it is Sephardic.

The first time I heard it was at my school, when a friend of mine who was Jewish asked me, if I was Jewish myself, I told him no, I am a Christian and he had apparently heard my name somewhere, I don’t remember where.
