I heard jews believe you will be fused with God after death, is this true?

I heard that Jews think that after you die you will be cleansed of sin and then fused to God

That sounds pretty terrifying because that sounds like you will have everything you are removed and then you will become just a small part of a much bigger being, that sounds horrifying like something I saw on evangelion
