This is another megathread leading up to Χανουκά.
This is NOT in any way meant to limit the number of otherwise Hanuka-related posts standing alone on the sub as we approach this most revolutionary week.
However, wherever, and with whomever you’re going to frolic in never-ending oil, you certainly won’t be alone for this most illuminated time of our year. Ask questions and share ideas here to help your fellow Jews the world over spin, sing, and celebrate!
Chanoeka starts on the evening of the totally normal day of Wednesday, 25 December, and runs through Thursday, 02 January. On haLuakh haIvri (the Hebrew Calendar), it’s from 25 Kislev to 02 Tevet.
Hag haUrim (Festival of Lights) celebrates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem during the Maccabean Rebellion against the Seleucid Empire. Due to the unfortunate overlap with major consumerist holidays, Amazon wasn’t able to commit to one-day shipping and it took a painfully long week to get the shipment of oil! Miraculously, the original bit of oil lasted the whole time until the new oil arrived, for eight crazy nights!
