So – still not Jewish. BUT I did talk to a conservative rabbi not far from where I live and explained the whole story via email. I am going to meet with her in October and attend her shul for Yom Kippur services, staying in a hotel over the holiday. She was very encouraging and I hope that our talk soon (Oct 3rd) will lead to a formal study for conversion into the Conservative community. I want to thank everyone that responded to the original post, it really gave me the confidence to contact her and follow up when I didn’t hear something back immediately, and I am looking forward to studying and returning to Judaism properly.
