This is a concept which is quite common in eastern philosophies/religions. I think especially of buddhism where they believe the sense of I is just an illusion and doesn’t have a real existence. I dont really understand it, neither how to put it in words but they normally talk of our subjective personal experience more like a continuum process in constant change rather than a separate individual holding a real existance with an essence which doesnt change.
Buddhists dont believe in the concept of soul. And I thought this was in total opposition with the belief of Judaism and the other abrahamic religions. But recently I saw a youtube channel talking about kabbalah and they started to talk about this kind of concepts which really surprised me. Also I have heard some jews believe in the concept of reincarnation.
I never expected to see these paralellsims between judaism and buddhism. Is this really a thing? Or just a very small minority?
