Always go to in if I’m able to when traveling to services when possible, but I just go. Like I just show up. But this year I started to go by calling Chabads. I am not sure if this matters but the vibe is different. I get chabads are a little recruitery. I’m solidly and was raised conservative, for the last years I went to a reform service because it was in walking distance, I liked the family vibe of the people (it felt more my age/younger), and it was very reliable (I find chabads less consistent in their services).
I’m in it for the services! I appreciate the community vibe but. I just love a good sermons and praying with people. I love services and always have since I was a kid, we went twice weekly. And holidays of course.
Im not unfamiliar with orthodox, I had friends growing up who were and often was the person who turned things on if needed. My dad was raised orthodox. I even had an orthodox therapist for a while. But. I’m not orthodox.
I think my mixed education clashes somewhat and I’m learning. So I’d appreciate some input from other Jews only please about Chabad versus just a shul without Chabad.
Thanks
