Can the High Priest not leave the Temple Mount?

He shall not go out of the sanctuary, lest he profane the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him: I am the LORD. Lev 21:12

The commentaries are trying to say that this is in relation to the previous verse that talks about him not becoming unclean by the touching of his parent’s after their death. So they’re saying he can’t leave the sanctuary to attend the funeral, basically.

But that means he can leave to go do other things but not the death of his parents? That doesn’t seem right. Why would he only be forbidden to leave for the death of his parents?

Thanks
