Hi, my mother’s family history is much more documented and we know of their lineage going pretty far back. My father who’s father was most definitely Jewish, died when my dad was very young and we don’t have much information other than he escaped from Hungary during world war 2, many others (Laj)can be found on the holocaust registry but for years can’t find a single other example of my surname, my father has told me since I was a child that we were the last people with this last name and I thought it was kinda just a family joke but now I don’t know. I just wanna know if anyone has seen or heard or knows of anything close, it could be a Hungarian version of a more common surname or possibly middle eastern or Caucasian in origin. I’ve been trying to find info for 10 years and I thought maybe I’d try looking here. Thank you if you read this and thank you if you know anything!
