I wasnt sure were to post this, but I needed to vent about this.
While I was working this weekend, my partner visited their family. and apparently my brother in law told a lot of “jokes” about Jewish people.
My partner told me some of these “jokes” and while I have a thick skin, and I am not Jewish, I was shocked at the jokes he made, to my partners entire family, who apparently found them very funny.
When I told my partner I thought the jokes were anti-semitic, they defended their brother, telling me “he didnt mean it”, that “its just his dark humour” and that “if i really knew him I would understand he didnt mean anything by it”.
My partner honestly feels I am being too sensitive, but the jokes were something you would have heard in the 1930s…
I am going to a family gathering of theirs in 2 months, and if he makes another “joke” like that in my presence I dont think I could let it past.
