Question for the people in the more religious community: I married a non Jewish atheist, and we did have a Jewish wedding and he’s very respectful of my Jewishness, even though he doesn’t believe in Hashem.
I’m wanting to become more observant, keep Shabbat, get involved in our local shul and be more involved in the Jewish community. Problem is, I know more observant and orthodox sects of Judaism are VERY against interfaith marriages.
I know my local conservative rabbi where I grew up attending Shul, couldn’t even come to my wedding as a guest, because it was interfaith. I am worried of starting to attend more orthodox spaces because I have no intention of either divorcing my husband nor c*nverting him (he has no desire to ).
But he does respect my religious journey and is willing to keep a kosher home, support my keeping of Shabbat etc.
So I guess my question for the more observant Jews in orthodox spaces, would I be accepted in those Shula and communities if I let them know my husband is an atheist? Will they judge me and not want me there because they see it as a sin?
