Basic Questions

Hi all, I am a ethnic Jew living outside Israel. Recently I have found a strong connection to my heritage and the Jewish faith itself. I was thinking about visiting the only synagogue in my city (its orthodox but they’re not super strict) and I just have some very basic and probably silly questions before I do. Such as when do you visit, how well must you know passages from the Siddur/Torah and anything else you think I should know.
