Was raised evangelical and was taught a literal Genesis narrative. But realized a few years ago that Christianity and the bible are most likely false due to science and historiography contradicting that which is presented in scripture (no evidence for creation, noah’s ark, etc) . After my abandonment of religion and Christianity I did some research on the bible from an academic standpoint, and I found out that there’s a controversy over whether or not the Genesis creation narrative is meant to be taken literally (same with Noah’s ark). I’m curious about Judaism’s perspectives on this.
What does the interpretative landscape look like in Judaism? What are the major schools of thought? I’m primarily interested in the perspectives of conservative and orthodox Judaism.
are you yourself a creationist?
