I caught myself feeling embarrassed and hesitant to ask the bread guy at Whole Foods to bag me a loaf of Challah because it would draw attention to the fact that I’m Jewish. I was afraid to see his reaction… I guess I’ve internalized some of the effects of antisemitism.
Have you ever felt embarrassed to be seen buying/requesting/doing something Jewish in public? (or in a not-explicitly/exclusively-Jewish setting) Why?
