As I’ve become more frum, I’ve found it harder to connect with the secular world. I can’t imagine living the lifestyle I used to live, and I’ve realized that the way most people connect—through pop culture, nightlife, or even just certain social norms—just doesn’t resonate with me anymore. The thing I connect with people through the most is Yiddishkeit.
Obviously, not every space has other frum Jews, and sometimes it feels like no one really understands what it means to live this kind of life. I feel like I walk around as an outsider in the broader world, like I’m part of something most people have no clue about.
How do you deal with this? Have any of you felt the same way as you’ve become more observant?
