Anything forbidden or offensive in Dungeons and Dragons for someone of Jewish faith?

Hey everyone, looking for a little knowledge and perspective here. I run a game of dungeons and dragons at a game shop and one of the players is an older, possibly orthodox? guy named David. We reached the end of our campaign and I let the group vote on what they want to play next and the group voted for one with a lot of undead enemies like vampires, zombies and ghouls. (Campaign is Curse of Strahd for any that are familiar).

So this was not David’s choice, but he was outvoted so we started that game and David dropped out saying this one just wasn’t for him. I’m not Jewish and relatively ignorant about the finer details of the religion. I know David is on the more strict side of things with it. Example: he will absolutely not drive or ride in any kind of vehicle Friday night through Saturday. I wonder if there is something with theme of the undead that clashed with his faith so he removed himself from the game?

In the past he has seemed pretty uncomfortable with answering a bunch of questions about his faith so I don’t want to press him on it, but I really enjoy hanging out and playing with him so I want to get him to come back and play with us. Anyone here have any insight if there may have been a conflict with the subject of the game and his faith? Or maybe I’m way off and it was probably some other reason he dropped out?
