Anyone here a Wikipedia moderator or experienced editor?

There are two articles about organizations that deal with anti-semitism and/or anti-Islamic extremism (they are NOT anti-Muslim organizations, they concern radical and Islamist groups only) that are the subjects of smear attacks with false claims and innuendos. I’d like to get them changed to promote a neutral point of view, but I had a run-in with a moderator who tried (and did) make it doing so a problem with one of the articles, and I’d like to avoid a similar problem with the other.

I don’t want to re-write the article, just make it more neutral, primarily by adding content refuting the false charges.

These are relatively obscure articles and I can’t figure out how the moderator knew I was editing them – do they have some overall way of looking at the site and see who’s doing what.

Even if you’re not interested in helping to do this, I would appreciate it if I could get some perspective. The moderator was extremely hostile and accused me of acting inappropriately; from what I could see, he was the one acting poorly (ie. engaging in double standards where what I wanted to add was ‘not important enough’, even though there were nearly 100 online and print media reports about the subject, while there were plenty of articles about arguably less ‘important’ issues which no one contested).

I want to be sure that I’m not the jerk here; even though I’m pretty sure that I’m not, some confirmation (assuming I’m correct) would be very helpful as this is a real gaslighting/crazy-making situation involving a couple of people with a lot more experience than me.
