A matchmaker for me?

(Yes, the Fiddler on the Roof jokes are not lost on me haha)

Now that I am 31, my family is concerned about my lack of a boyfriend over the past 10 years. I am an Eastern European immigrant who came here 20+ years ago and have been wanting to marry someone who shares my cultural background. Several of my family members were listening to the radio in our native language and heard about a matchmaking service that matches 20-somethings to 40-somethings who came to the US from our country at young age (and are therefore now Americanized). The female matchmaker apparently keeps binders of young people and matches them to one another. My family is all gung-ho about paying for this to submit my profile and is convinced that it’s a legitimate way to find someone for me. My POV is that no normal guy in that age range is going to sign up for a matchmaking service. To this argument, they insist that it is perfectly reasonable that a mom or grandma may have submitted his information and he not know about it, but once there is a date, they will tell him and he will go on it.

Honest opinion, am I off-base that it is completely insane to put money into this endeavor and no match with a normal guy around my age can come out of it? Would love to hear thoughts (especially any arguments to the contrary of what I think)
