Full disclosure, I’m married with two kids. This isn’t about me, this is about some friends and family who are in the process of dating and getting engaged.
In the yeshivish community, which I am sometimes part of and sometimes very much not a part of, is it normal after a few serious dates for the bf or gf to spend a Shabbos at the others house to see what a Shabbos with that family is like? (Sleeping in a totally different room or even a separate house of course). I have definitely seen my more modox family members do this, but I haven’t with those more in the “velt.”
And if it’s not done during dating, would it be done after getting engaged, or totally assur to have a Shabbos seudah with future in-laws until you’re actually married?
I expected to do this when I was dating, but 1) it was covid, 2) my gf (now wife) who is more yeshivish than me thought the idea was weird.
Good shabbos y’all
