Why people forget about the meaning of צדקה

First of all, I need to clarify that I may write somethings wrong bcs I’am not that used to write in english.

In all my life experience I’ve seen people in different places of judaism misunderstanding the concept of Tzedakah (צדקה). Using the greek/roman interpretation with the word “charity” or “Caritas” in latin for this concept.

Tzedakah’s root (שרש) is צ-ד-ק, this root groups the semantic field of justice, meaning tzedakah is about doing social justice, working to prevent inequality, poverty and other social injustices.

The only people I’ve seen taking it serious, or even understanding in the original interpretation are chassidic and jewish scholars. Mainly the large ammount of jews think just donating some coins a day of the year is making this great miztva.

Please feel free to discuss with me, about what I’ve just said, just pls don’t be disrespectful. Love to talk about this question!
