What would you do in my situation? (Work + Shabbat question)

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well. I just got hired for a retail job after months of struggling to find work, Baruch Hashem. I observe Shabbat with my wife, but I don’t know my new schedule yet and I’m not ready to ask for Shabbat off immediately. I want to first prove myself at the job and then request it once I’ve built trust.

Here’s my dilemma: I wear a kippah every day, everywhere. It’s an important part of how I express my Jewish identity. But if I end up scheduled to work on Shabbat, I feel weird about wearing it on those days because I don’t want to misrepresent myself as fully Shomer Shabbat when I’m still working towards that level.

Would you wear your kippah every day except on Shabbat when working? Or would that look worse, like I’m hiding it on the very day it matters most?

I’m trying to do things the right way as I grow in observance, but this part is confusing. How would you handle this balance?

Really appreciate any thoughtful advice.
