What is the Jewish belief for why God chooses to remain unseen and to not appear before humankind and tell us things directly

I grew up going to a reform synagogue in which people had a wide variety of different beliefs and I always found this topic kind of fascinating. People have been using r/nosleep to experiment with theology and explore a lot of very creative explanations that would explain this throughout Reddit’s existence(I’ve seen some ranging from God ascending to a different plane of reality after creating the universe to God using his own physical form to create the universe) but since the Jewish belief about God is that He’s all powerful and literally listens to and answers prayers, I don’t see why God wouldn’t want people to have undeniable proof that He’s listening and answering back. It would create a lot more unity and peace around the world if that was the case.
