| | Watching one of the recent videos on the (fantastic) Esoterica YouTube channel, and he discusses Ugaritic, a now-extinct language that was a very close relative to Hebrew. So close, in fact, that he mentions that one can basically read Ugaritic if you know biblical Hebrew. Interesting to note: Ugaritic was actually written in cuneiform, instead of the Phoenician-derived proto-Hebrew script.
