In the book of Numbers there is a story about a guy who settled in Gad with his mother as she was a Gadite, although he was not accepted by Gad because his father was an Egyptian. As far as I understand, Tribal affiliation comes from the father. His story did not turn out so well, but for other people like him, if you don’t have a Jewish father what tribe do you belong to? Do you have a tribe?
