The Hourglass Sanatorium -movie

Me and my mother went into a movie theater that was supposed to play ”a surrealist polish jewish film with yiddish and hebrew languages”. We live in a country with very little jews, and we don’t get to experience the culture often. As the movie started, my mother was worried that the movie would be too surrealist to her, and that she would fall asleep if that was the case. Well, the movie sure was surrealist, but it also made both of us uneasy, and we left the theater an hour in in the film. My question is, is there anyone out there who actually enjoys seeing this movie? To me and my mother it made no sense, it didn’t make us feel proud and it didn’t make us remember our expriences with other jewish people. I’m still kind of shocked and sad that my expectations were so high for the film.
