Superman is a Jewish icon?

As a Jewish American, Superman has always meant more to me than just a comic book character. He was created by Jewish writers during a time of real fear and uncertainty, and his story mirrors so much of the Jewish experience. He’s an outsider, sent away from his homeland to survive, raised in a new world where he has to hide who he really is, and yet he still dedicates himself to helping others and doing what’s right.Even Kal el is a Hebrew name. He’s the ultimate metaphor for Jewish identity—hiding in plain sight, holding on to who you really are, and using your strength to protect instead of dominate. He’s better than everyone, and they don’t even know it, he looks just like them but he’s not. Superman doesn’t just fight villains—he represents hope, survival, and moral courage. And that feels deeply Jewish to me.
