| Once I found out that mini challah are fine for shabbat, I decided to go with that. I just repackaged the challah into freezer bags with two challah each. Bread freezes well. The idea will be to pull one out of the freezer at the end of shabbat and put it in the fridge. When shabbat rolls around it will be thawed out. Since I live alone it makes sense to get the mini challah for religious use and bigger challah for delicious use. That way I can ensure I have challah for shabbat. The store I buy it at (Albertsons at Fort Apache and Sahara in Las Vegas) is an hour away on the bus. So having a challah stash means I don’t have to drag my butt an hour on the bus on a Friday to buy challah last minute. Ideally I want to limit my kosher store shopping to once a month. The other place I go to; the Smiths in Summerlin, is an hour and a half away. Thank you to everyone who answered my question regarding challah sizing. submitted by /u/PurpleMutantJen |
