Questions/Ideas regarding including a Jewish/Hebrew community in writing (coming from someone with little exposure to the culture)

I’m writing a post apocalypse thing based out of the fallout universe and the area I’m basin it out of has a synagogue and that gave me the idea to have a small settlement built in/around it from the Jewish community that was there before the atomic war. I wanna do what I can to make it fun with them embracing their heritage to combat the tide of the end of the world and preserve what they can but I also wanna make sure I’m doing it authentically and without any harm done. Please give me any input you might have in this regard.

I’m thinking so far of modeling it after some earlier jewish village structures but am new in looking into such history and generally would ask for some help on how to respectfully and authentically portray such an idea.
