| | Years ago, I came across a wonderful volume, which, at the time was available online (it no longer is): Mintz, Sharon Liberman, and Gabriel Goldstein, eds. Printing the Talmud: From Bomberg to Schottenstein. Yeshiva University Museum, 2005. In this volume there is an article on the margins of the Talmudic manuscripts. It is a short but very readable piece, and it has stayed with me; I return to it every now and then. The whole volume is well worth reading. Here is the article: Fram, Edward. ‘In the Margins of the Text: Changes in the Page of the Talmud’. In Printing the Talmud: From Bomberg to Schottenstein, edited by Sharon Liberman Mintz and Gabriel Goldstein. Yeshiva University Museum, 2005. The image’s caption reads: ‘Babylonian Talmud Tractate Avodah Zarah (Venice, 1550), printed by Marco Antonio Giustiniani’. Just sharing, no questions in this post 🙂 submitted by /u/GlobalAsparagus186 |
