I know this is late but I want to express how warm my Passover felt.
I am a type 1 diabetic. Past Seders my mother pressured me to drink the 4 cups of wine (juice) causing my blood sugar to spike. As an adult I chose to drink wine instead… Turns out there are other options (I hope, I’m curious about other interpretation)
Fast forward to this Passover. My sister-in-law has gestational diabetes and as the host pours the first cups of wine (grape juice) she voices her concern. Immediately her husband takes the full glass of wine (grape juice) and she gets a much smaller glass. I too get a much smaller glass and throughout the Seder we joke, ope, it’s a Passover miracle, my wine glass is as full as it needs to be. Neither of our blood sugars spiked.
Finally for Passover, I didn’t feel sick. We prayed over each glass we just… … didn’t refill it 4 times…
I’m curious, according to Jewish law, is this take on Passover customs wrong? If I’m completely honest, I’d do it again. But if there’s a different prayer to say I’m all ears.
