Now is a great time to donate to your local JFS

Hi I’m a former board member of a Jewish Family Services/ Jewish Community Services (it’s the same thing). JFS is an institution in most North America cities with decent sized Jewish populations. One of the many things that JFS is often responsible for is the local kosher food pantry. Jewish poverty is real. Many clients are senior citizens on fixed incomes. Kosher food/ culturally relevant food shouldn’t be considered a luxury- it’s a necessity. In addition to serving the Jewish community these pantries typically serve anyone in the zip code or anyone who comes to their door. With the incoming SNAP benefits shutdown food pantries are set to see a massive uptick in clients. The best thing you can give is money as food pantries operate by buying in bulk that is typically unavailable to individual consumers. If you can please donate to the pantry nearest to you.
