Modern orthodox Jews, to which extent do you keep Niddah? Is there an easier version of Niddah?

Hi everyone. I am a modern orthodox Ashkenazi Jew who recently got married and I am struggling with keeping all the laws of Niddah. I learned everything from my Chabad Rabbi who taught me the absolute strictest version of everything (not sleeping in the same bed, not even handing an object to the other person, not allowed to have the slightest amount of even non-sexual touch, etc)

My wife and I are really struggling with this and I’m not doing well emotionally. It is so hard to have to push away the one person that you love and should be allowed to be with, and we are Both very affectionate people who rate physical touch as highest on their love languages. We understand refrain from intimacy during the menstruation cycle, but completely refraining from even the slightest form of contact seems a bit excessive…

I would appreciate some guidance or advice on this matter. What does everyone else do?
